Reimagine Your Home, Reimagine Your Life
If anything has become abundantly clear now in the first month of 2021, it is that things are going to keep changing. Everything has its circle of life. If we really think about it, things are truly always changing. It is we humans that decide we like things a certain way and that we do not want them to change. What if, instead, we embraced change?
What if we looked at changes as new ideas, as new possibilities, and as new opportunities? What if instead of walking through this life simply managing what happens to us, we inspire things to happen for us. It’s a different mindset. But let’s see how it works on some everyday things.
First, it’s January. It’s winter, even here in Florida. Many of us are still somewhat isolated, basically social distancing and allowing others to do the same. The dynamics of our lives have changed. Until quite recently our lives consisted of a busy day of packing everyone up to leave our homes, go out and interact with our colleagues most of the day, and then return to our homes in the evenings. When it was initially requested that we stayed home, many of us were relatively uncomfortable. Nearly a year later, many of us have decided to change our beliefs about that.
Being a person who ‘inspires life to happen for me’ means that we make this work. We make it work better than ever before. We reinvent and reimagine our lives. Reimagining our homes is one of the big factors in this. It’s important to realize that the role of Your Home has changed. Originally, perhaps, it was our place of refuge, rest and renourishment. Now it is your home, your living room, your kitchen, your office, your entertainment center and often, your children’s school. That’s a lot of change. This series will talk about changes that can be made to make a difference in the essence of our lives as well as the functionality.
On another note, many of us are financially able to reimagine and refurnish our spaces. We are the fortunate ones. Many others are not in this position. Perhaps we can pay attention to the items that we are letting go of. Rehoming any gently used, functional household furniture and items can help those in need while reducing the amount of garbage we are producing.
